What’s all this then (so why subscribe)?
I started work on my blog in 2002 (Conscientious). With time, things expanded and changed, to arrive at its current form in 2013 (CPhMag.com). In late 2019, while thinking back to what had been the glory days of blogging roughly a decade earlier, I realized that I would want to end my engagement with so-called social media, in particular Twitter. Instead, I want to get back to a more one-to-one relationship with readers interested in my work. Thus, the idea of this mailing list was born.
Replacing social media and spreading the word of my writing is one aspect of this list. But I also want to expand what I do and re-discover the world of writing. There is so much more than just photography in my life, and some of it will find its way into the mailing list. Don’t worry, there won’t be any cat postings, but at times, I might even talk about my own photography (something I have been very reluctant to do for a long time).
So in a sense, the mailing list is an experiment that, in part, I hope will serve to bring back some of the excitement that I felt back before social media. Some of the emails might end up being long; some of the content might talk about something that happened a while ago — part of my effort will be to break through the idea that everything has to be relentlessly new and offered in tiny bits.
At least initially, emails will arrive every two or three weeks. I can’t promise that everything will be interesting; but I will promise that everything will be just as carefully produced as what you can find on CPhMag.com.
If this sounds good to you, subscribe to get full access to the CPhMag.com mailing list. You’ll never miss an update (and if you somehow do, email me, and I’ll forward you what you missed).
Oh, and it’s really a mailing list and no newsletter — it’s unlikely there will be any news. If there’s anything you want me to write about, feel free to send me a note.
